More than 500 children are expected to participate in the inaugural Mzuzu City Children’s Fair, which seeks to promote creativity, social interaction and learning through play.
The fair will take place on Saturday, 29 August 2026 at Springs Park, providing children with an opportunity to interact, showcase their talents and take part in various fun activities.
Speaking to Millennium Online Radio, Mzuzu City Mayor Chiyembekezo Moses said the initiative was introduced to create a safe and meaningful environment where children can enjoy themselves while developing important social skills.

Moses said the fair will also help children build confidence, make new friends, discover their talents and feel valued within the community.
He said organizers plan to make the event an annual fixture and expand it in the coming years to reach more children.
According to the Mayor, the fair is the first children-focused event of its kind to be organized by a sitting mayor in Mzuzu City, marking a new chapter in the city’s efforts to promote child-friendly activities.
