The High court in Lilongwe is expected to deliver its ruling on Friday 21, August 2026, 10:00 in the morning on the bail application for Centre for Democracy and Economic Development Initiative (CDEDI) Executive Director Sylvester Namiwa.

Namiwa has been in custody at Maula Prison since his arrest on July 30 and is facing charges of treason and publishing false news likely to cause a breach of peace.

However, Namiwa's Lawyer, MWenye says he has not yet been officially served with a notice from the court regarding the development.

In an interview on Thursday, Mwenye said he is waiting for formal communication from the court regarding court procedures.
