Agricultural expert Felix Jumbe has challenged farmers to move beyond simply attending the National Agriculture Fair and actively engage with the technologies, knowledge and opportunities presented at the event.
Jumbe says the annual fair provides farmers with an important platform to learn modern farming methods, exchange experiences and explore innovations that could improve productivity and increase their incomes.
Speaking to Millennium Online Radio, he said farmers should use the event to identify practical solutions to challenges they face in their farming businesses, including access to appropriate equipment and improved production techniques.
Jumbe cited livestock farming as one area where innovation can make a significant difference, saying the adoption of modern practices could help farmers increase milk production and improve overall efficiency.
He has also encouraged young people to participate in the fair, saying greater exposure to agriculture and emerging technologies could help them identify business opportunities and play a bigger role in the country’s economic development.
The 22nd National Agriculture Fair will take place from 27th to 29th August 2026 at the Chichiri Trade Fair Grounds in Blantyre under the theme “Transforming Agriculture through Innovation, Value Addition, and Market Linkages.”
Jumbe says farmers should treat the fair as more than an annual gathering by actively seeking knowledge and opportunities that can transform their farming.
