Lilongwe, Malawi - At least 85 exhibitors are expected to showcase their products and innovations at this year’s 22nd National Agricultural Fair, scheduled for August 27 to 29 at the Chichiri Trade Fair Grounds.
The 22nd National Agriculture Fair will be held under the theme “Transforming Agriculture Through Innovation, Value Addition and Market Linkages” and is being organised by the Malawi Confederation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture.
Speaking to Millennium Online, MCCI Director and Membership Development Officer Wezi Mungoni said the fair will officially be opened on August 27 by Agriculture Minister Roza Mbilizi.
Mungoni also said the minister will have an opportunity to appreciate various innovations, digital developments and achievements by farmers and other players in Malawi’s agricultural sector.
She second day will feature an agribusiness forum aimed at connecting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with key stakeholders, including financial institutions, to strengthen business linkages and create market opportunities. She said.
The fair will also feature demonstrations of food-processing equipment and techniques by SMEs, as well as training in modern packaging. The packaging training will involve companies specialising in packaging and agro-processing, with the aim of equipping farmers and SMEs with skills to package their products in line with international market standards and improve opportunities for export.
