The Movement for Community-Led Development (MCLD), together with the Chikonde Youth Organisation, will lead a community climate action campaign on 29 August at APASA CBSS in Sub-Traditional Authority Kamwendo, Zomba Rural District, and in Balaka District.
The campaign will focus on tree planting, production of local manure, construction of check dams and swales, and creation of firebreaks.
The initiative seeks to demonstrate how simple community-level actions can help conserve the environment, prevent soil erosion, improve agricultural productivity, and protect communities from climate-related challenges.
Organisers say communities must take the lead in addressing climate change, while calling for greater participation and support from young people and other stakeholders.
